If you register an athlete for more than one sport with the Abbotsford Whalers during the 2018 WinterFit Session 1, you will qualify for a discounted overall fee.

Current Cost:

Swim 1x / week $200
Waterpolo 1x/ week $200

Multi-Sport Cost:

Swim 2x/ week + Diving OR Waterpolo $450 (Refund of $80)

Swim 2x/ week + Diving AND Waterpolo $550 (Refund of $180)

If you qualify for the discount, once you have completed the online registration process and made full payment, please send an email to Provide the name of the athlete, your name and the sport programs the athlete has been registered for and a refund will be applied to your credit card. If paying offline, the discounted rate will be applied on your overall payment.

This discount offer does NOT apply to the Jr. Whalers program.


The Abbotsford Whalers Diving WinterFit Session is now open for registration & will remain open year-round.

This program is scheduled for+ Saturday mornings, 8:00-9:00am at the Matsqui Recreation Centre on Clearbrook Rd.+ No previous diving experience is necessary; this program is open to any athlete who wishes to try out the sport.


Swimming WinterFit 2018 Session 1 is NOW OPEN until September 23

Swimming WinterFit Session 1 will be run out of the Abbotsford Recreation Centre and is scheduled from September 24 to December 21, 2018.

WinterFit Session 1 Schedule is as follows:
Monday – 3:30-6:30pm for Returning Competitive Swimmers only
Tuesday – 3:30-5:30pm for Returning Swimmers only
Wednesday – 3:30-6:30pm for Returning Competitive Swimmers only
Thursday – 3:30-5:30pm for Returning Swimmers only
Friday – 3:30-5:00pm reserved for Jr. Whalers; 5:00-6:00pm for Returning Swimmers Div. 4 and Up only
Sunday – 8:00-10:30am – Jr. Whalers and New Swimmers

No Swim Practices are Scheduled on the Following Dates:
Monday, October 8
Wednesday, October 31
Thursday, November 8
Friday, November 9
Sunday, November 11
Monday, November 12


ALL athletes who are registered for the Jr. Whalers swim program are to arrive at 8:00am on Sunday, September 30th to be assessed by Coach Bill and Coach Saje. Once the skill levels are determined for each athlete, a swim time and day of the week will be offered. There are two new time / day slots available this session – Friday afternoon from 3:30-4:15pm and 4:15-5:00pm or the regularly scheduled Sunday morning slots between 8:00am and 10:30am.


Returning Competitive Swimmer means an athlete who has been with the Abbotsford Whalers for a minimum of one year or at Coach Bill’s discretion. Commitment expectation for these athletes is to swim 2x per week. If you participate in the Spectra program, you will be able to complete the online registration process and check-out without making a payment.

Returning Swimmer means an athlete who has previously swum with the Abbotsford Whalers, but does not include the Jr. Whalers program.

The Jr. Whalers program is for athletes 10 years and under who wish to enhance their swimming skills and are committing to swim with the Abbotsford Whalers in the summer of 2019. A commitment to the summer season is not mandatory to register for this session; however, this is an entry-level program for a competitive summer swim club and is intended to be offered for those seeking a higher level of swimming experience and instruction in the long-term.

New Swimmers are any athletes who have not previously been registered with the Abbotsford Whalers and are older than 10 years of age.

Fees, or a portion of the fee, will only be refunded if notice of withdrawal from the program is provided in writing 2 weeks prior to the first scheduled date of the season. Please send a request for withdrawal to


Registration Link for Waterpolo Winter Session is NOW OPEN and will remain open throughout the season

The Abbotsford Whalers Coed Waterpolo Winter Session for 15 and Under athletes is scheduled from September 24, 2018 and ends April 14, 2019. Practices will be held on Sundays, from 4:00-5:30pm at the Abbotsford Recreation Centre.

Cost is $400 for the season; however, if an athlete registers later in the season, the fee will be automatically prorated. If you are registering more than one athlete for Waterpolo, you can select + Add Another Registration (top right corner) once you get to the Checkout option for the first athlete.

You can select to pay using a Billing Schedule (automatic payment 1st day of each month of remaining $350 – October to April); however, a payment of $50 will be required at time of registration.

A processing fee of 4% is applied to all payments, regardless if you pay online using a credit card or offline with a cheque. Payment by cheque is only an option for those families who do not have a credit card; otherwise, please make your payment online during the registration process. Ensure you select “Store this card for future use” AND “Make this the primary payment method” if you are choosing automatic payment options. Electronic check payments are not an option with the Abbotsford Whalers so please do not select that option.

2018 BCSSA Provincial Championships

The 2018 Championships will take place August 13 to 19, 2018 in Surrey BC

The Guildford Recreation Centre will be holding the speed swimming and water polo events. The 50 metre pool will allow for two pools of play/action.

The Surrey Sports and Leisure Complex will be hosting the diving and synchronized swimming events.

Competition Venues

Surrey Sport and Leisure Centre

The Surrey Sport and Leisure Complex (SSLC) is located in Surrey at 16555 Fraser Highway. The competition pool will be located in the 25m deep end of the facility. A spectator viewing area will be located on the mezzanine level on the north side of the pool. The facility has a cafe and is near multiple food vendors. Parking is available at the Aquatic Centre in the main and surrounding parking lots.

Guildford Aquatic Centre

The Guildford Aquatic Centre is located within the Guildford Recreation centre which is located in Surrey at 15105 105 Ave. A 50 metre long, eight lane indoor pool will be divided into two pools 25 metre pools to accommodate our preliminary senior and junior pools. A spectator viewing area will be located on the upper deck along the northwest side of the swimming pool. As limited space is available, spectators are expected to respect other spectators and exit the area once their swimmers race is done.


Surrey Sport and Leisure Complex

Parking is available at the Aquatic Centre in the main and surrounding lots. RV parking is not available at the venue.

Guildford Aquatic Centre

Day parking will be available in the Guildford Mall North Side Parking Lots during the Championships (including Thursday evening during Regional warm-ups). There will be no day parking available on-site at the pool. We would also like to remind attendees about parking restrictions in the area and warn you that City staff will be ticketing improperly parked cars.

Morning Drop-off Zone

Thursday afternoon and each morning (Fri – Sun) there will be a drop off lane open to allow for swimmer drop-off before continuing on to park in the Guildford Mall Parking Lots. It will be located at the turn off from 152 Ave on to Lincoln Drive. This will be a very busy temporary drop-off zone, therefore if you can, it is recommended that you park in the designated parking lots and walk the short distance to the pool.

The Drop-off Zone will be open during the following times:

Thursday Aug 18: 3:00pm – 5:00pm
Friday Aug 19 to Sunday Aug 21: 6:00am – 7:00am

Guildford Aquatic Centre Plaza

The plaza outside the Northeast pool entrance will be the central hub for goods and services at the meet.

Food Trucks

Several food trucks will be located at the edge of the plaza from 11am – 2pm from August 17 – 19. They will compliment the many food choices that are located in the surrounding commercial area.

Live Stream TV Tent

A marquis tent and large screen will be set up outside of the pool in order to provide more space for spectators in the pool. If your child is not swimming but you would still like to watch what is happening in the pool, please visit the TV Tent or live stream the races to your phone. A link for the live stream will be posted closer to the competition date.
