Our winterfit program is an introduction program to our competitive swim season the following summer. Winterfit sessions are NOT swimming lessons.
Swimmers must be just that, swimmers. It is expected that new members have some previous experience in the water and can do, at the minimum, the following: 1. Swim front and back glide independently for at least 5 metres from the wall. 2. Confidently participate in the water without fear; any trepidation would indicate that your child should continue with community swim lessons or more time in the water before entering the swim club. 3. Mastery of required skills necessary to complete Sunfish level or level 3 of Red Cross swimming.
Deep water swim ability is not necessary, but again, your child must be willing to participate.
Our club offers a Junior Whaler swim program if your child does not meet these criteria. This program is offered in July and usually runs every weekday for 3 weeks at Centennial outdoor pool.
